South Africa's graft said ex president Jacob Zuma came back home on Saturday after going to Cuba for a medical treatment. He also said the president was telling everyone he doesn't really care about going to prison.
Zuma, 77 years old was given an arrest warrant in the beginning of the month but his lawyers said he was too sick. He is to travel back to his home country South Africa for a pre-trial hearing on corruption charges.
The High Court gave the warrant after it suspected that the sick note was fake. The court also said it would not be implemented until the case has resumed on the 6th of May.
Fans of Jacob Zuma gathered at the Johannesburg or Tambo International Airport to welcome him. Jacob Zuma ruled South Africa from 2009 to 2018 as an ANC leader.
Speaking to his fans Zuma said I am not afraid of prison before he was taken to the arrivals hall. He raised his hands with a grin on his face behind a pair of glasses when his fans were singing sweet songs to him.
Zuma allegations include taking bribes of up to 4 million rand to Grant a 3.4 billion dollars arms deal in 1999.
There are 16 charges of graft and racketeering. They are in relation to the purchase of fighter jets, patrol boats and military equipments.
There are so many legal turns over the past decade and half but the arrest warrants is the most recent in this case.
Zuma was impeached in 2018 by The Ruing African National Congress ANC after 9 years of allegedly ruling with corruption .
My Reaction: Jacob Zuma, if you are not scared of going to prison why will you be telling us? My brother, who asked you? Anyways my opinion is the man doesnot want to step his foot inside any prison. He wants to die outside. If he can take bribe, he should also be man enough to take the punishment. Afroposians, Tell me your opinion, comment below.
